"Hipster" has been used as a slang word for quite a while and was especially popular in the 2010s. It describes a person who is trendy and fashionable, particularly in a way that is outside mainstream culture. For example, if the person is into alternative culture. It's not so commonly used these days. Ex: A lot of hipsters live in my neighborhood, it's quite an artsy, young area. Ex: This band sounds like something hipsters would like.
