In this context, can I replace "convince" with "persuade"?

Yes! You could use "persuade" instead of "convince" here. In fact, it's arguably more accurate since "persuade" is to do with actions, and "convince" is to do with belief, even though they're sometimes used interchangeably. Although, sometimes, it takes a belief or one's mind to change before doing an action. Ex: I persuaded him to get a puppy. = I convinced him to get a puppy. Ex: Can I convince you to come on the trip with us? = Can I persuade you to come on the trip with us?
