"In a way" is a phrase that means to a certain extent, degree, or by some part. Something's not completely true or accurate, but in some regard, it is. Ex: In a way, I was happy to go home early since I was so tired. Ex: I didn't think I'd like playing football, but, in a way, it's quite fun.
