Interviewers will interview many many people for a job, often with similar skills and experiences, so it's important to stand out and show why you are unique and different from others. Ex: Her resume stood out because she had unique volunteer experiences. Ex: The hiring manager didn't ask for an interview because the applicant didn't seem unique or interesting.
