North America is widely considered a "democracy" since they vote in their presidents and presidential parties. However, the more accurate term for their government is a "federal republic", meaning that they have a group of states which are partially self-governing and that the people hold the power. But, the people elect representatives to have that power. Ex: North America has the democratic freedom to vote for its leader. Ex: The United States is a republic, as the Pledge of Allegiance says.
