What does "skim" mean?
Native speaker’s answer
Rebecca
In this context, to "skim" means to read over something quickly, in a superficial way without paying attention to the details. When the speaker says that he only "skimmed" the invitation, he means that he didn't read it very carefully. Ex: A: Did you study for the exam? B: I only skimmed the textbook. Ex: You don't need to read the entire chapter. Just skim over it briefly to get the main idea.
