What's the origin of the word "apartment?" Also, how's it different with a "condo?"

The origin of the word "apartment" comes from the Italian words "a parte" which means to separate. Then in the mid 17th century, in French, it was used to refer to private suites, and now we use it to mean residential suites containing a couple of rooms. The difference between a condo and an apartment is ownership! An apartment is rented by someone, usually through a corporation or agency, whereas a "condo" is owned by the person living in it, or they lease it out themselves. Structurally, they're the same. Ex: I bought a condo this year. I'm thinking about leasing it out. Ex: Your apartment is so cute. How long are you renting it for?
