What does "commute" mean? Could you give me some examples?

A "commute" is the journey to and from one's home to their place of work (or school). If your journey to your office takes an hour each way by subway, you can say that your commute to work is an hour long. You can choose to add the mode of transportation as well (note that walking is not considered to be a form of commuting). Ex: My commute to work is two hours round-trip by subway. Ex: I commute for an hour each day to work by bus.
