What's the main difference between an ordinary picture and a portrait?

A "portrait" is specifically a picture of a person. Whereas a "picture" could be anything, really. Including a portrait. Ex: I'm busy painting a picture of the farmhouse. Ex: You're really good at portraits. I find it difficult to draw people.
