What does "tied to" mean? and what expression can I use instead of "tied to"?

"Tied to" means "connected to" or "attached to". Either of those words would be suitable to use instead of "tied to". "Tied to" can refer to something being literally attached, or a feeling of attachment. Ex: The dog is tied to a leash. Ex: I'm tied to my parents.
