What does "I'm telling you" mean and when do you use it?

"I'm telling you" means that what you're saying is true, and that you should be believed. You can use it when it seems like someone doesn't believe you about something, if something doesn't seem believable, or is "too good to be true". It can be used for positive or negative situation for emphasis. Ex: I'm telling you. Pineapple on pizza is actually really good. Ex: A: You should sign up for this gym. I've been going every day this week. B: No, really? Every day? A: I'm telling you. I've woken up at five am every day to go.
