What's the main difference between "closed captions" and "open captions?"

Good question! "Closed captions," often displayed as "CC," can be turned on and off by the viewer. "Open captions" are always in view and can't be turned off. Usually, "open captions" are edited into the video itself. Ex: I like to turn on the closed captions on Netflix whenever I watch a movie. Ex: Open captions probably take a long time to add. EX: The video has open captions in both languages.
