What's "go bad" mean? Can I say "go good" too?

Good question! In this context, "things .. that just went bad" just refers to things that were not good, that ended poorly or in an undesirable, unfavourable way. You can also use the opposite expression, "went/turned good," to indicate the opposite meaning to "went bad." Ex: Things went badly during our trip. Ex: Things went great during our trip. Ex: I don't know why things went so badly. Ex: It turned out good in the end.
