"Gotta" is an informal contraction of "got to". It can be used in informal conversations but should not be used in formal written texts. When using "got to" we normally use it in this structure: subject + have/has + got to. However, when using the contraction "gotta", have/has is often omitted. Ex: I gotta go to the store before it closes. = I've got to go to the store before it closes. Ex: We gotta go to that new restaurant! = We have got to go to that new restaurant.
