Is there a difference between "math" and "mathematics?"

They mean the same thing! "Math" and "maths" are the short forms of "mathematics!" "Mathematics" is definitely more formal than "math" though. "Maths" works for things like talking about subjects and homework. Ex: I'm majoring in mathematics. = I'm majoring in maths. Ex: Did you do your maths homework?
