I suppose the phrase "wakey wakey" is an informal expression however, is it a more kid-friendly expression? Would it be awkward to use it for grown-ups?

"Wakey wakey" is definitely an informal expression. It's usually used in a joking manner and can be used towards adults. It's supposed to be a fun and teasing way to wake up someone. It also can be used towards children as well. Ex: Wakey wakey! It's time to get up. Ex: Come on now, wakey wakey!
