What's "maid of honor?"

Native speaker’s answer
Rebecca
A "maid of honor" at a wedding is an unmarried woman acting as the main bridesmaid. Traditionally, they plan the bachelorette party, make sure the bridesmaid's dresses are organized, give a speech, and whatever else the bride needs help with. Ex: I've asked Charlotte to be my maid of honor. She's my best friend, and she's also good at organizing. Ex: I would never be a good maid of honor. I don't even like wearing dresses.
