Good question! It's true that one of the meanings of "to go under" means to go bankrupt or out of business. However, another one of its meanings is to sink/go below the surface of the water, which also means to be destroyed or feel overwhelmed/defeated. In this case, "I'm going under" means that he feels defeated, that he has failed, and that he is sinking and losing hope. Ex: Our company went under during the pandemic. Ex: He went under the water to look for seashells. Ex: I could feel myself going under. I needed my loved ones to pull me out of my funk.
