Here, "get through" means for something to become clear or understood by someone. As if it was "getting through" into their mind or thoughts. Ex: It's not getting through to Sally that we're leaving in 5 minutes. She's not ready yet. Ex: I need to get it through to John that I don't like chocolate. He keeps buying chocolate for me.
