Here, "turns out" means to be prove to be the situation or the case. To happen to be or come about. You can use this when perhaps there's an unexpected result or outcome of something, or a situation contrasts another one. "Turn out" can also mean to extinguish or turn off a light, dress smartly, or to make something. Ex: I was planning on going home for the weekend. But, it turns out I have a test on Monday. So I'll be staying in my dorm and studying. Ex: I washed my white shirts with a red towel. Turns out, I really like the colour pink. => Because the red towel made the shirts pink. Ex: Can you turn out the lights, honey? Ex: They turned out five cakes this weekend at the bakery.
