"E-commerce" refers to the sale of goods online (whereas "commerce" refers to the buying and selling of things in general). You will often see the prefix "e-" to indicate that something takes place online, over the internet. Ex: I opened a small e-commerce store and business is doing well. Ex: My friend works for a huge e-commerce company called Amazon. Ex: I don't like e-mailing people, I prefer texting or calling.
