"Put things into perspective" is an informal expression that means to compare or introduce a similar or related idea/situation, in order to get a sense of something's true significance, value, or size. For example, in terms of money, sometimes we cannot fully comprehend how rich the world's richest people are unless we compare their wealth with something. In the case of this video, the speaker has used this expression to clarify how revolutionary Musk is, in terms of the speed of the development of technology. He states that scientists didn't believe a good electric car would be created for another 50 years, but Musk introduced one in a much, much shorter amount of time. Ex: Let's put Jeff Bezos' wealth into perspective. $1.7 million dollars to him is the same as $1 to the average American. Ex: To put things into perspective, let's compare this example with similar cases.
