"Silver lining" means something good or an advantage from an unpleasant or difficult situation. The phrase comes from when the sun is behind a cloud, and it looks like the cloud has a silver lining around it. Ex: I know it seems hopeless right now, but look for the silver lining in the situation. Ex: The silver lining from all the bad press is that we're still getting press. That means people will hear about our company and sales will increase.
