"His own" means belonging to him. In this clip, when Hermione says "Death took the first brother as his own," she is saying that Death took the first brother as a part of his property or belongings. Death is showing that he had total control of the first two brothers and they could not escape him. This phrase can also mean to take a person or animal in and treat him as a part of the family.
