Yes, here it does! But in other contexts, a "spell" doesn't have to be a bad thing. It could help someone too. Whereas a "curse" is intended only to cause harm. Ex: Cinderella had a cool spell that turned mice into horses and made her a blue dress. Ex: I think I'm cursed. Bad things keep happening to me.
