"The upside" means the advantage or positive part of a situation or circumstance. So to "see the upside" means to think of or consider the positive aspects of a certain situation. Ex: It's annoying that we can't book until Tuesday, but the upside is that tickets are cheaper then. Ex: There's an upside to the situation, you're just not seeing it.
