What's the difference between "donkey" and "mule"?

There actually is a difference! The two can be considered to be related. The donkey is descended from the wild ass of Africa. It is in the same animal family as the horse. Meanwhile, the mule is a hybrid animal. It is the offspring of a female horse and male donkey. There are genetic and physical differences that allow you tell you them apart, such as the fact that mules are larger and closer in size to horses.
