Answer from a Native speaker

Rebecca

Good question! The answer is that swords and sabres are related. A sabre is a type of sword, which is any long, sharp, and curved blade. Sabres are a particular type of sword from Europe. Meanwhile, a knife is a type of instrument consisting of a knife set into a handle, which can be used for both cutting and fighting. Ex: Knights used to compete with each other using swords. Ex: I have many different kitchen knives that I use to cook with.
