"Intel" is short for "intelligence," which refers to secret information of political or military importance. Unless you are speaking of these kinds of situations, "intel" is not commonly used. The FBI deals with such matters, which is why the speaker has mentioned "intel" in the sentence. Ex: The spy has not revealed where he got his intel from. Ex: Many countries ally with each other to share intel.
