Here, "status" means the official or legal standing of someone or an organization. It can also mean one's condition or state at a particular time, someone's rank or position, or a comment on a social media site! Ex: The status says that the request has been approved. Ex: If you have diplomatic status, you can travel to so many countries without a visa. => official standing Ex: They're a high-status family, so don't embarrass yourself when you meet them. Ex: I just updated my status online.
