Here, "off" means no longer on or participating in something. It is commonly used this way! It's heard often in relation to teams, groups, and performances. Ex: Ted, you're off the team for the season. Rest your leg injury for the next season. => sport's team. Ex: She's off the marketing team with immediate effect. I want her reassigned to a different department. Ex: The director told me that I'm off the show.
