What's the difference between "What's going on" and "What are you doing"?

"What's going on?" is an informal greeting used among friends to find out what's happening. You can think of it as having a similar meaning to "what's up?" or "how's it going?" "What are you doing" is a bit stiffer and does not have the same casual feel. Ex: Hey guys, what's going on?
