"Dent" is a verb that means to make a hollow on the surface of a hard surface by applying pressure. For example, this verb is used most commonly in reference to accidents causing the surface of a car to cave in. The hollow made in such a way is also called a "dent" (noun). Ex: I accidentally dented my dad's car. I'm going to be in a lot of trouble. Ex: I noticed a dent on my car. I think someone dented it and ran away.
