The idiom "under one's nose" is usually used to mean that something or an answer to a problem is right there, in plain view. It is used to mean that you should have seen or figure out something sooner since the answer was so obvious that it was like it was right under your nose. This expression is generally a reminder that something one cannot find is actually there. It is also used if something, especially a bad thing, happens in your presence or very near to you, and you do not or cannot do anything to stop it. Ex: I searched for my keys for ages and they were right under my nose the whole time. Ex: They were stealing money right from under the company's nose.
