Can I say "she threw this up" instead of "she threw up this"?

Yes, you can. Both of these phrases have the same meaning. The writers may have used "threw up this" to sound more dramatic, that she threw up something that isn't normal. Ex: He threw this up. The food must be old. Ex: He threw up this. That isn't normal!
