Hanukkah is an important holiday celebrated around the world. It is celebrated by many Americans but is not a public holiday in the US. It is eight days long and celebrated in the month of December to commemorate the rededication of the Second Jewish Temple in Jerusalem over two thousand years ago. Ex: Many important holidays take place in December: Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa. Ex: Hanukkah is also known as the "Festival of Lights."
