An "accident" is an event that happens by mistake and usually causes damage to something or injuries someone. An "incident" is an unpleasant or unusual event. Ex: She was in a terrible car accident. Ex: The incident occurred Friday evening. Ex: It was an accident! I didn't mean to break your phone. Ex: She was traumatized by the incident.
