English Idioms That Include “Back”

There are many English expressions that include body parts!

Today, we’ll take a look at expressions that include the body part: the

I’ve got your back

When you want to cheer someone up, you could say, "I'm here for you.”

Another expression you can use is "I've got your back.” 😎

Try imagining supporting somebody from behind them! Can you guess why the word "back" is used?

I've got your back if you ever need someone to talk to. I'm here for you.

Talk behind one’s back

The word back is also used in “talk behind somebody's back”, which means talking about somebody without them knowing, especially because they would not like it.

Again, try imagining talking about someone behind them, and they don’t know you’re talking about them.

If you’re talking behind someone's back, you’re probably not saying something good about them.

I heard that some of our coworkers have been talking behind my back, spreading rumors about me.

Get off one’s back

Once again, back is used in the expression, **“Get off my back!”

If you tell someone to get off your back**, you are angrily telling them to stop criticizing you or putting pressure on you.

If you imagine a situation where someone is hanging on your back and bothering you, you might just yell, "Get off my back!" It means "Stop bothering me.”

Can you get off my back? Your constant nagging isn't helping me finish this project.
