"Fate" is the idea that one's future is predetermined, that it is divinely planned (i.e. already determined by a god or similar entity). Thus, to be "fated" means to be destined to happen, end, or become a certain way. Ex: You can't change your fate. Ex: You're fated to do great things in this world.
