The difference between a "hero" and an "idol" is that a "hero" is someone who has done something "heroic", a noble act, great achievements, or something courageous. An "idol" is someone you look up to, adore, and admire. They don't have to do something "heroic" to be an idol. You can also use "hero" when referring to someone you admire. Ex: He was a hero during the war. Ex: You're my idol! It's so great to meet you. Ex: Nelson Mandela is considered a hero of South Africa. Ex: BTS are idols in their country and to the world. They are admired greatly.
