What's "inroad" mean? Does it have to do something with "road?" And is there a "outroad" too?

Surprisingly, "Inroad" actually doesn't have anything to do with "roads!" "Inroad" means an advancement or progress. It can also mean an invasion or an attack. There is an "outroad!" But it's no longer used. "Outroad" means an excursion ~ a short journey or trip. Ex: Stress started making inroads upon Dan's health. Ex: Our team has made several inroads since starting the project. Ex: We're going on an outroad with our bikes.
