Here, "drama" means something emotional and exciting, but it usually has a negative connotation to it. Like something exciting happened, but it's not always good. But you're right! It's also a type of genre. Often eliciting these emotional responses too with series, movies, and books. Ex: Any drama happen at work recently? Ex: Mary's boyfriend broke up with her. There's so much drama.
