What does the prefix "en-" mean? Could you please tell me other examples as well?

Great question! The prefix "en-" has Latin/ancient Greek origins and means "within" or "in." Words with "en-" in them often describe some sort of internal effect. If we look at the original meaning of "encounter," we can see that it means to "unexpectedly experience or be faced with (something difficult or hostile)." Some other "en-" prefix words are "encourage" (to inspire with hope, courage, or confidence), "entomb" (to put in), "empower" (to furnish with"), and "enable" (to supply with the means, knowledge, or opportunity (to do something)). Ex: The artist received encouragement to begin painting again. Ex: My teacher encouraged me to do my best in school.
