A bow is the action of folding your body at the waist, in a gesture of respect or thanks. A salute is a gesture made with the arms and hands, usually made by holding them in a position close to your head. Ex: The soldiers gave the casket a military salute. Ex: The restaurant host bowed to us as we entered the restaurant.
