To "withdraw from [something]," usually a competition or an event, means to no longer participate in it. You take yourself out of the competition. You can also "withdraw from" a group of items such as a pile of cards, names in a hat, and so on. This is when you pull or take one of those items from the group of items. Ex: You need to withdraw from the pile of cards to continue playing the game. Ex: She withdrew from the competition since she wasn't feeling well.
