What's the main difference between an "innovation" and an "invention?"

An "innovation" is a new idea or method for or of something, whereas an "invention" is something that has never been made before. So one person "invented" the computer, and other people now "innovate" what the computer. Ex: One of the latest innovations is the Hands-Free shoe. Ex: Jan Ernst Matzeliger invented the shoe.
