A "sequence" is a series of "scenes" with a distinct narrative! Apparently, a film contains about eight sequences. In conversation, "scene" is a much more common term than "sequence." "Sequence" would be considered film jargon or lingo. Ex: I loved the scene where she reunited with her dog. Ex: The way the filmmakers arranged the sequences was quite incredible.
