Can I use "clean" or "rinse" instead of "wash" here?

Yes, in the United States, it would actually be more common to say "rinse" here instead of "wash" when referring to washing fruits or vegetables. This is because you only use water to "rinse" them and "wash" can imply that you are also using soap. "Clean" could also be used, however, it is not very common. Ex: Always rinse produce before you eat it. Ex: Did you rinse off the lettuce?
