Why's he talking about "October?"

I think the main point of the lyric was to reference a time in the future to say that he likes living in this sort of dream-like, intoxicated state from feelings for as long as possible. "October" happens to rhyme with the previous fragment, "sober." So I think it's more of a technical reason rather than a metaphorical or meaningful one! Ex: Driving in my Rover that I got in October. Ex: Wake me in the future. I'm enjoying this right now.
