To "testify" means to give evidence as a witness in a law court. It's a big decision to decide to testify, as shown here in this video. This is because the witness must share their memories, experience, or knowledge of a particular event or topic, and it could potentially lead to a suspect getting convicted (found guilty) of a crime. In many cases, it's also dangerous to testify because they may face threats or get hurt in retaliation. Ex: The victim testified against their attacker in court. Ex: He decided not to testify because he was afraid of getting attacked.
